Not while kayaking, but a few years back I was on a San Diego boat down at Guadalupe Island fishing for Tuna. These GW's from 15 to right at 20 ft. kept cruising right next to the boat.Several tuna's came back to the boat on guys lines with nothing but the head. After a few bummers like that,a deckhand ducktaped a filet knife to a long gaf and speared one of the sharks in the side. The shark did not even seem to react. This was a knife almost a foot long and that bugger didn't even flinch. It finally slowly swam off after 4 or 5 pokes with the knife. The bigger GW's were as long as the transom was wide,20ft.The heads were about 3ft or better wide at the back of the jaw.On the first night there,a GW came right up on the transom of a nearby 50ft. sportfisher boat and chomped into a tuna that had just came over the transom on the gaf.The guys moved back fast!A diver was bit into the previous year at the same location,on the south end of Guadalupe Island.Scott Shaw
