I slept late and got to the launch at 6:50 am. The bait reciever was grumpy and gave me the ancovies for free (go figure). The store manager was farming a short wsb from the doc which I helped release.
I paddled out to the north end of the outshide breaker wall and drifted all morning. My new mooching reel saw it's first action with a short butt on frozen squid. As I was getting ready to set up my drift again, my anchovie on the other pole got slammed. The head shakes turned out to be false as I pulled in a monster guitar fish. I drifted some more for a few short fights and spit outs, with my last catch being the ugliest crab I've ever seen.
I saw Dean on the way back in. As I left, a floatilla of boats converged on the breaker wall for a slow day of fishing.
Red Tide and very cold water didn't make things easy but overall I had fun. I didn't get too crazy as I have been doing hard labor around the house and didn't have the juice to paddle much.
I might go back out Friday morning as I have to be at the Channel Island Harbor for another function.
