Get the wellnuts they will work. I used them to attach a Scotty Fly Rod holder behind my seat area on a OKDrifter. I also did not have any access to the inside of the yak in that area. Using the wellnut did the job. They hold real tight and are also water tight. All you need to do is drill the holes put the wellnuts in the holes put the rod base ontop of the wellnuts put the screws in and tighten it up as tight as it will go.
