: Anyone have the Surf to Summit Kayak seats with the rod holders in the back or the one with the lumbar support? What's the pro and con on these seats? Any info will be appreciated.
I've had the rod holder tall back for a couple years now. It's a great seat. I don't have the lumbar one though so I can't comment that one. The rod holders really work and the utility bag on the back of the seat is like having another small hatch. I put my whistle, stringers, granola bar, camera, shark gloves and a few other things. When it's not full of those items, you can put your sonar in it (if it's detachable from the base mount, or any other device) for launching or re entry.
It trolls great with one rod, but I wouldn't recommended trolling with 2 rods using the seat. The position of the rods while in the seat are too vertical. There isn't enough spread to them, keeping the "baits" too close to each other; potential tangle. You can also use the rod holders for a net or gaff.
Feel free to shop around, but the price I've seen the tall back rod holder seat is at Sierra Outdoor Sports. They are one of our sponsors though I've been telling people about their prices long before Ocean Kayak Fishing and Sierra Outdoor Sports hooked up.
Tight lines,
