Got off to a late start with Ocean Hunter. We worked wome of the kelp beds with plastics and squid strips for not much(we pulled up a few sandies from the outside). I threw out my drift chute when the wind picked up. Not more than 5 minutes from inflating my chute did I get slammed. I was fishing a dodger/bounce ball set up with whole frozen/defrosted squid. I though it was a barn door halibut the way it was fighting. After about a 20 minute battle, I was able to see color. Another Black Sea Bass. That's my second within about 4 weeks. I hope this doesn't just mean that I'm lucky, but that they are starting to show "some" sign of a potential recovery.
This one was much smaller than the last one. Tom and I guessed about 45 lbs. Still a great fight. Took a few pictures and sent him on his way.
Tom hooked into a few more Sandies. On my last cast I caught and released a short flattie.
Wind picked up. Almost no surf, but the sets showed a few 2 footers. In by 12:30pm.
The water was only about 8-10ft visability. Saw some birds crashing the beachbreak, but nothing outside.
It seems like it's been slow fishing lately. Though I think after this full moon cycle has passed, we should be getting into some solid bites.
