I use 2 part expoxy. I try to stay away from the 5 minute quick cure. I usually get the clear kind. Though I don't think some color in the epoxy will effect the signal (since the signal is already traveling through colored plastic).

What I've noticed are that the clear kinds of 2-part expoxy don't specifically list "plastic" as one of the possible bonding surfaces. The ones I've seen make a cream color 2 part epoxy that does include "plastic" as one of the possible bonding surfaces. Though the clear still seems to hold up well provided you mix the glue up well and put the puck down correctly (turn the puck about 10-20 degrees to the left and right while you're pressing the puck into the epoxy; this helps get the trapped air bubbles out). Be sure to put something on top of the puck to help it set. What worked for me was resting a hatchet blade on the puck, and then something else ontop of the hatchet blade.

Last suggestion would be to make sure that when you're strapping you yak down that you don't place the straps over the kayak where the puck sits adjacent to. Tightening the straps will compress the kayak and weaken the bond if the straps are directly over the hull where the puck lies beneath.

Oh yea, you most likely already know this, but be sure to prep the area to be glued by lightly sanding it and then cleaning it off.

Good luck,

jas

: What is the best brand or kind of adhesive that you have found to bond to a kayak. It is as Cobra FND and i'm having problems keeping the transducer mounted to the inside of my hull.I have tried a few different kinds with minimal luck.
