Late post because i am just getting back from San Diego;
Left the house at 12:00 Sat for a 13 hour drive, 395 south to 15 south to 8 west(piece of cake) arrived at the rollercoaster and finally asked a taxicab where Allen's was located. The Fog was already there and I was the first one there. Waited for jim to arrive since I rented a kayak from him and launched at 7:15, missed the rush for bait so I paddled the right side of the bay with a storm lure, got a liplock on something but no hookup.Followed the Rocks half way through the jetty before the fog lifted, then crossed it and followed the kayakers that had bait to the left jetty tip. Stopped short of their final destination and had a blast tossing storm and croc, lost a megabait to a bad knot on my 15lb spiderwire. Headed back towards the bait barge and split a scoop with another kayaker and bounced balled from the bait barge to the jetty area with zero hookups. Headed back to the launch and enjoyed the party on the beach. Great food, plenty of drink, and again plenty of stories to listen to while kayaks from the ocean and bay trickled in. The biggest part of the event was when the dingy from A-1's mothership arrived to the beach and unloaded the monster WSB's; what a site seeing those cleareyed monters in a final pose.
Thanks Jim and Allen for the event, great job, and thanks to all the sponsors for the great prizes.
I had a blast.
