I've been carrying an LED light with me kayak fishing for over two years now. I keep it sealed with my first aid kit which as an emergency light or signaling device. I use the photon microlight which can be bought on Ebay for about $5. Visible up to a mile away.

You can use an empty 12oz water bottle to encapsulate them plus it will float if it falls in the water. Attach the bottle to a piece of PVC and mount it on your stern and you have bright deck lights. If don't want to mount it on pvc you can just tie it to a rod reel your line to up to the tip and put the rod in a holder. Attach it to your anchor line put it over the side for a bait light.

For Bow light lights however I recommend glowsticks red and green for bow running lights. Be creative.
