: Great weather graced the presence of my girlfriend and I. Wow, the "Santa Ana" condition was an alarm bell to get our asses up there to do the tandem kayak thing. We lounged in the sun and got bent on some good Gophers, Blues and Sugars. No big Ling cod this trip but maybe next time as November approaches.

Just a question for anyone who may have lived in the san simeon area in the fifties or early 60's. I grew up in the Cayucos (just down the coast a bit) and can remember my Dad taking me on a "duck" ride down the beach and on to the boat "Wahoo" that was staked just offshore. I was only 4 years old, but riding down the beach and off into the surf in the W.W.II amphibious truck remains one of my most vivid childhood memories. I live in Fl. now, but am trying to get back to the pacific coast, and am anxious to try kayak fishing. The boat and d.u.k.w. were owned by a Richard Ball at the time, but believe he did not start the business, and doubt he kept it very long. Any info would be greatly appreciated... I do remember catching a gunny sack full of fish, and my dad catching a blue shark.
