: Yo,
: Thanks for your input. I wasn't aware of the Malibu Pro Explorer.
: Ocean Kayak's Caper vs. Malibu's Pro Explorer.
: Who wins in all around handling, fishability, stability, speed (or lack of), roominess (I know, not much in the Caper) and semi-fun in the waves.
: I'm looking for the best of both the worlds.
: Your words of wisdom are greatly apprecieted.
: Fish on!

It's difficult to compare those kayaks for 2 reasons: The Caper and Pro Explorer are pretty new to the scene. It may be difficult to find an angler whom has fished from both platforms. As well, the dimensions of the kayak are fairly different. I haven't paddled a Caper, but I would think the Pro Explorer would fall into a different category.
I will tell you though that the Pro has plenty of room. The front hatch (option) is 38". A great hatch for an angler or diver. A very dry seat! A great amount of topdeck space as well. I would have to assume that the Caper paddles with a bit more ease. Though once I got use to the Pro, I didn't mind the "lunkerness" of that type of platform. I've found that it handles the waves pretty well (though I haven't taken off on any waves over a 2 ft face). The only complaints I've heard up to this point are from people whom prefer the touring style over the more stable, slower platforms. I love my Scupper Pros. But I have found a REAL value in fishing off of the more stable platforms. I have fought and landed over 200lb fish from my Scupper, so fear or lack of skill didn't push me towards the Pro Explorer. It may take more effort to get to the fishing grounds, but once you're there, it's worth it. Though I still love the Scupper Pros.
Take one for a test drive (call the Malibu shop).
