I just got the new model of the ck pro tandem. I still paddle it from the center position. there are subtle indentations where the old foot steps were. I don't mind and have had no problem with it. I'm 6'7" 230# and sitting center on top of the center hatch really puts you high up over the water yet the stability is vey good, I can't flip it in open water. Paddling with 2 people is OK as long as the the 2 don't weigh over 400# + gear. Under that though and a little caution, moderate water conditions and experience will allow you to fish or tour comfortably tandem stlye. I did paddle around with no gear with my friend who is 6'11" 280# and it felt like the upper limit to just staying right side up.

I would recommend paddling the ck and the ok at the very least before you buy one. Malibu Ocean Kayak in Malibu had(when I was there in sept.) a malibu2 they were renting out in addition to all the Kayaks they rent out in their own line. Its ~$20/hr. and any $ you spend renting is taken out of the cost of any kayak you decide to buy from them. Good luck, Donny
