I live in ventura, but mostly fish north or south.
Arco Island up by la Conchita is one of my favorite spots. You can launch to the right of the pier or down where oil piers beach was. Good structure, Kelp, etc.
There are quite a few kelp beds and an artifical reef down by Mondos- ½ mile before Faria state park, where the long boarders are very thick! Mellow swell easy launch.
Malibu area is loaded with productive spots, I might head down to neptunes net (county line) tomorrow to fish deep hole.
If the surf is small Point Mugu can have some great halibut fishing.
The surf in ventura/Oxnard is often bigger than other areas and there does not seem to be that much structure close to shore, therefore I suggest heading to where the surf is smaller (north) and there is more reef and kelp. Good luck!
