I ran in the same problem with my PVC Cart snapping on my PVC Cart. When I first built the cart I wasn't sure how it would work out because at the time a (a couple years back) I hadn't seen anyone using PVC for carts.
I moved to a thicker heavier 3" pipe and built a strong block frame. I used the strongest PVC Threaded cup sleeves threaded I could find. I screwed 4" steal galvanized pipe on each end to serve as axles. This corected the problem with the PVC snapping. The PvC is strong and fexible enough to be used as a frame. Just use steal pipe for the axles. keep it as light and simple as possible. I don't have a digital camera so I won't be posting any picter on it. See you on the water. Good luck!
