You might want to start in the San Diego Bay.
YakAtak and my self are planning to fish there this Saturday. Al is a very good fisherman and doesn't mind sharing his tricks.

I just picked up my kayak today nov 10 (usmc b-day) and I'm ready to start fishing, but here lies the problem I have no clue what is biting this time of year or even what to catch them on. I do know that I will be fishing the La Jolla and point loma kelp beds. please any info would be good.
