For live bait, 1s and 2/0s. If the sardines are really big and anchovies are not available I'd even think of trailing a single stinger in the tail (by the spine) and if the bonito are on the small size.

Crocs for bonito, barracuda, bass and halibut. Fishtraps for bass and halibut, I have no idea if pitching swimbait to bonito is a good idea.

I use a 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2 ounce egg sliding sinker with a red bead above a swivle with 12-18 inches of furocarbon leader. The lighter the weight the more action the bait will have and the longer the bait will stay alive. If you flyline (no weight) your live bait , expect to fight the birds. We were drifting and were getting attacked by the bonitos on Monday at only 10 - 12 feet deep.
