: Late launch today but well worth it! Bonito, Mackeral, and a 29.5 inch halibut, had 2 shorts also, one was so small Caleb said I could make a key chain pendant out of it!!!...hahahha. Bones and Mac's were wide open all day long. Ran into and met Saba Slayer in the parking lot, and it seemed he had a field day with the bones up to 5 pounds. Caleb had a nice 4lb Bone among other fish, and his girlfriend in an inflatable yack was having fun hooking up the Mac's. Beautiful day, seas were calm outside, I paddled to Torrance Beach but only got a bunch of Mac's no halibut. Odd thing was I was catching Mac's out there drifting off the bottom with 3" anchovie fish trap with a strip of squid. Oh yeah, a big sailboat missed hitting me by about 1 foot!!, he said I was in the middle of the harbor, when I was coming back in from Torrance, so instead of manuevering around me to the clear waters to the left and right of me, he thought he'd teach me a lesson and almost sank me, should have shot my flares at him. I think some other boaters told him what an idiot he was, since he had a motor to manuever and was about 25feet above water so he should have seen and avoided me way before that. Whatevers, I had a great day fishing.
Great report! That's why I try to stay away from harbors. Watch them boats! I've always feared boats more than any other potential hazard on the water (next to wind and rough seas).
