I took the Coastal Kayak Fishing School a couple of months ago with Mike Allen up in Dana Point Harbor. The way he rigged his drift chute was to have a clip on the end and clip it to one of the eyelets about mid boat then he had a dropper loop tied about a 12-18 inches up the line from the clip. He slid the bow line through the dropper loop and clipped it off. That way the drift chute can be retrieved easily and it pretty much stays out of your way. It seemed to work pretty good for him. Hope this helps.
