: Has anybody caught a fish and left it on the hook and also trolly rigged a line to the leader and hooked the fish through the tail and fished that way? I already know it is a one fish at a time thing, but I remember that someone said that they don't unhook the fish but keep it hooked and swimming on the side of the yak until they need it.

Not much fishing done that way here. Bait fish are captured and transfered into live wells or bait buckets. We do use a trap rig for Halibut and other species, forward hook is a single hook that penetrates through the baits nose and a treble hook either pinned into the tail or use a small rubber band to hold the treble hook next to the baits tail for better swimming action.
