Made it to La Jolla Shoresat 6 AM, Johnny Ceviche rolls up. Got to share the ocean with Mr. WSB and pick his brain a little bit. Launched and landed in the usual small stuff. Offshore breeze died and turned onshore, never more than 6 knots. Water is really clean and blue green. Foggy in the cove, but not on the water. Birds were everywhere, not working, but looking all over. Only bait I could manage were Smelt and I'd brought frozen Anchovies. Picked up a nice Whitefish and had to call the DFG on my cell, couldn't remember if they were in season, they weren't. Next hookup didn't want to leave the bottom, pulled up a fat Ling, also off limits until July 1st.Had a Grey come between me and J.C. Thought I got a great picture of the tail, but not. Johnny headed in and I headed out to the Sandbass spot, about a 1/2 mile NW of the point where ther are a number of Lobster bouys. I couldn't get anything through the Macs to get down to the Sandbass. Back at the kelp I pulled another Whitefish and a few more Macs. Headed in around noon, I guess the fish tacos are coming from the freezer this time.
