: I decided that my oldskool fiberglass just isn;t gonna do it for big sur anymore, so I'm gonna throw down the money on something new. Anyone have any recommendations for a good all around fishing kayak, with a lot of storage, ease of handling, stability, etc... Any suggestions would be totally appreciated...ThanxBrendan
I'd try an Ocean Kayak Scupper or a Malibu Pro Explorer. The Pro Explorer has greater storage area but doesn't paddle as easy as the Scupper. With big swells being synonymous with No Cal, I may tend to go for a more stable platform (Pro Explorer). If you like paddling over a few miles, maybe go with the Scupper. Compromise and tradeoffs. As you know, you can't get it ALL in one kayak. Scrambler XT is a good kayak for your build as well. Maybe try the new Caper too.
