: Jas,Way to go! That is one nice flatty. How long was your line from your dodger to your plastic squid?I have seen all the diagrams by Luhr Jensen and everybody. I'm wondering if you have to use a round ball for the weight? Would a big torpedo sinker work the same? Robert

My line that day was about 2.5ft. I vary it depending on current and size of dodger. You get a feel for what works after you try it a bunch of times. You can use a torpedo sinker and still have great results (using dodgers don't require the ball), but it won't be bouncing of course. Bouncing will stir up the pot when nothing else will. I use 8oz up to 16oz ball weights for bouncing. I got into bouncing because the commercial guys tend to prefer this method. Also...there's a cool guy named Pascal whom slays the legals bouncing. I haven't been out to Paradise Cove for a while, but he seemed to always have a few in the back. Btw, he uses a trolling motor from his tandem. It's not for me, but it does seem like the perfect halibut bouncing machine.
