Waders rock, all the time, anywhere. Except maybe if you knew for SURE that you were going in, but then what the heck are you thinking?
But not the nasty neoprene ones! Talke 'em back if you can, they aren't even being manufactured anymore by the "biggies" Get the lightweight, breathable ones. Sweet! Dry, warm, comfy, and with a paddle jacket, or any waterproof top you can have waves break over your head, and stay bone-dry all day. That's what the east coast guys wear when the waves are BIG the wind is Howling, the water is 45* and the air is freezing.
Our kayak conditions are girly-man at worst compared to thiers, and they wear waders...
