Jason,
The schematics tell you where everything goes, but they give no clues as to the idiosyncrasies as to the procedure. It took me a while to figure out how to back together and I just don't see how any diagram could ever explain it. I reel tech on a Florida BBS tried to explain it for a Senator and the only reason I could understand his post is becuase I had just been through it last night.
I've been looking at all the Penn star drag reels from the 140 up through the senators and they all layout basically the same. Penn is redesigning their website and hopefully will be back up soon.
The 140 and 200 are real (pun intended) close. The 200 has a 3-1 and the 140 has a 3.3-1 ratio. The diameter and everything else is identical. I can put those springs back blindfolded after last night.
I am trying to pick up a 100 for my 9 year old son since it has the narrow frame. I am going to give him a pole and a weight and try to teach him how to cast it this summer.
The one thing that keeps me around the 200 is that the 200 doesn't have ball bearings, It can really take a beating in the sand and surf.
I am trying out the auccuframe, because the frame is suppose to help with keeping the plates aligned and improve casting and reel preformance. The quick spool change feature is really grabbing my attention righ now. You could take out several different line colors, types and strenghts and not have to worry about having a bunch of reels on the kayak.
