I think this is the point. Weather at lakes is far different than the ocean. Also I don't get as wet in the lake as in the ocean, but you are dealing with a cold environment between morning air temps and water temps. I wore jeans under my waders and no socks. I could have worn socks and a pair of thermals Saturday and been more comfortable. The water temps were cold and I like to hang my feet over the side most the time. When I am in the ocean I usually go through the surf enough that I feel more comfortable in a wetsuit and nylon jogging pants with water shoes. I'd like to have sculpin proof pants if anything. When it get warm in the ocean, it nice to stick you feet in the water and waders would create a problem.

I think the most my waders will see saltwater is either surf perchin or a place like mission bay when it's cold.
