I have been in contact with Michael Burk, who works at the Leon Raymond Hubbard Jr. Marine Fish Hatchery. Michael has been very gracious to us and has extended an offer for a tour of the hatchery for us fisher-folk as it were. I thought it would be fun for those who are planning to attend our Fish-N-Que to have the opportunity afterwards to see a working fish hatchery. They have an active white sea bass hatchery and restoration program working. The have WSB broodstock, WSB in different stages of growth, and other species such as sheephead, Halibut, others.
The tour is free, but due to limited parking and resources the group is limited to 20 persons maximum. The tour lasts about an hour. We have tenatevly set a tour time of 3:00pm. We will be lighting the Bar-B-Que and eating about 11'ish and should be done by 2:00pm at Tidelands. The hatchery is located in Carlsbad, so it should be about a 30 minute drive. Because of the number of people is limited, we have setup a reservation page. Use the E-Mail link on the page listed below to send me E-Mail, and be sure to include your real name in the body of the message. I will put your name on the list of attendees. Sorry, but when the list is full we cannot allow more on the tour. Good Stuff,
Perry
