i fashioned a new implement in the form of a t-motor for the pro2. i had an old mincota that i whacked the neck off of and then extended the 6 speed switch to a more friendly place and shape. that was a snap! a perfect south breeze complimented the day so i could drift the channel to the beach and power my way back when it was dark and cold. that part worked without a hitch, also. i made bait ( about 5 smelt, and 5 shiner perch ) and started thru the bay, por nada. stopped at the bridge, por nada. hit a few slips, por nada. dragged around the reciever, por nada. paddle pushed along the inside of the south jetty and down to doheney and the boilers, por nada. then it happened! on the way back to my truck on the last hundred feet of water as i dragged the a smelt past the row boats the clickers starts up. it sings, then stops and the same again. i put it in free spool to thumb the bite.
but nothing. when i reeled it in what i saw left me in awe! it was black with a white streak right down the center, hairy and smelled like hell. that's right,
Mr. Skunk got me for the 1st time in quite a while. no fish today :(
