The Iceman and I launch at 5 AM from the La Jolla Shores. I had hoped to be the first kayak in the water because that always seems to bring me luck, but launching ahead of us was C Level and friends.
*The water* was a dingy green and the waves were all mixed up. The sky was crystal clear and there was only a slight breeze for most of the morning. Out in front of the hotel I caught (4) 8” green back mackerels on one drop of my bait catching rig. I experienced a beautiful morning trolling live bait and artificials all over the place for not even a single bite.
Over the radio I heard when Dante hooked up and then finally after what seemed like an hour he said “I just put a *WSB* in the hatch” estimated weight of 35lbs. Boy was he way off.
I landed at a very *congested beach* at 10:00
