I too am a newbie to kayak fishing. I just had mine out in Dana Point Saturday and at Irvine Lake in Orange County Sunday.
I am going to Lake Casitas on 4/20 and 4/21 (I think those are the right dates...We're staying Friday and Saturday nights at the campground). I am bringing my kayak for the first time. The lake is only about 5 miles or so off the 101. Its a nice large lake with an island in the middle and lots of shoreline that you can't get to from land. They catch big fish there all the time, including bass, trout and catfish. If interested just let me know.
