: Jas,I just hate it when the weather meeses up the fishing. That trip sounded like it could have been incredible with the right conditions. I was thinking that as bad as it was inshore on "the pond" that you guys were probably "Victory at Sea". You said you got the Halibut on a Scampi and squid. I think I would have opted to fish whole frozen squid over the anchovies. A dropperloop or on the iron. Anyone try that? Did they try to light up or buy the live squirts? Give me the heads up on the next charter. If I can, I'll be on it.Andy
I think everyone pulled out quite of few of their weapons from their arsenal. Mark Olson handed me some fresh dead squid....I dragged one with a reverse dropper loop on my dead stick for nothing. I may have been at it for longer than I realized because I know like others, we were mixing up different tackle to try to make something work. I probably should have tried the iron. We really couldn't get where the sports fleet was. They managed a few while we were out but the wind, waves, current was even worse where they were. We were less exposed because we were lined up inside of the Arch at Anacapa. I think we were much braver since we knew we had a support vessel. I don't think any of us would have launched from a beach if we saw that kind weather. Though we were all in good hands and the Jeff, Mark and a few others were probably monitoring the situation more than fishing. A lot of us had direct contact with each other and the Truth "via" handhelds.
