: Fellows, does anyone consider Kroc spoon a confidence lure here? I try to catch a fish on it and it is yet to happen. It casts extra nice. Once I remove it and attach chrome Ironman 1 or 2, bam!. This puzzles me. Also, how on earth does one deadstick a Kroc on the bottom. Fish eat it lying still? I know squid helps, but d'ya need to be anchored?Kroc has very good looks, is solidly built, not expensive. I'd like to feel a tug on it!Thanks, TB
I sometimes will drag one on the bottom on my dead stick while I'm doing a slow drift. Sometimes I might add a squid strip to it. I've caught Halibut and bass this way. You usually won't get too much action on one unless it's moving.
I've found that when the bass are in close, and the sun is shining, that they can aggressively go after the spoon, more so than plastics. They don't neccessarily have to be in shallow water...it's just something I've found from my experience to be fairly consistant. Last month I was tossing all size and color plastics for nada. I switched to that same Kroc....I immediately started to hook up in 10ft of water on Calicos.
Just keep experimenting. You'll find it to be very trusty and like most lures...they will work one day but maybe not the next. Just keep mixing it up.
They have worked well in areas around the kelp when the bass are boiling.
