Robert, I was feeling a bit cranky yesterday. Your post really wasn't all that offensive. I have as little use for most of the protesters as you. The situation is far too complex to painted in black and white terms. We won't know if we have been successful this time for many years. Now is certainly no time for complacency in either Iraq or Afghanistan. I sincerely hope the exemplary work and costly sacrifices of our troops will not be wasted this time by a lack of commitment to win the peace.
Thanks for calling your representatives to urge protection of veteran's benefits. I can't comprehend how the President and Congress could even consider cutting VA funding to increase tax cuts at a time when more and more of our troops who served faithfully will be needing the services.
Again I'm sorry I strayed into this political discussion. Let's stick to fishing! See ya on the water soon friend!

: Pal,First let me say that I never said that you or anybody else who had reservations with the invasion of Iraq were stupid. As far the people over there liking us or not. Probably 90% of them hate our guts no matter what we do. I said "that they were overjoyed with thier liberation and new found freedom". But the real point is we didn't do this for them so much. We did it to get rid of a murderous mad man who threatened the peace and stability of this vital region. As you know he thumbed his nose at the U.N. for the last 12 years, he fanned the flames of the Isreal and Palistinian conflict, and was getting cozy with several terrorist groups that meant to do harm to the U.S. and our allies. We tried negotiatiations, diplomicy, you name it. Nothing worked. We gave him every chance to avoid this whole thing. These are the facts. The thing that burns me up is the protesters with thier "No blood for oil" signs and the Hollywood anti war activist who don't recognize the facts. Or the naysayers that say " Yea, but you didn't find any weapons of mass destruction". And it has only been a month since the start of the invasion. Give me a break! The country is the size of California. There are lots of places to hide things and it is hard to look for somthing with people shooting at you. I'm confident we'll find the w.m.d.'s. I also belive we have no intention of our troops being over there any longer than necessary. I am very sorry if you felt offended by the way I wrote that post. Looking back at it I probably should have omitted the "dipstick" remark. I will Email my representatives to tell them not to cut but increase V.A. spending. I also think it is almost criminal how little our service men and women are paid for the dangerous and heroic job that they do. I'm also going to let my representatives know about that as well. That being said. Let's put politics aside and go fishing. Robert
