Re: you can put alot of money also into the kayak after you get it, PFD,paddle leash,fishfinder,compass,VHF radio, etc.
Think about where you are going to put your gear when selecting your yak, rods/reels, rod holders, crate, etc. Go slow and get the PFD first with a good leash and practice in the conditions you will fish in. Other people talk alot about practicing surf launches and exits so you have a lot to get used to before any long range paddles. Along with you PFD, is your kayaks floatation so make sure you get good seals when you strap down your hatches.
