"Do you see enough places on that kayak to mount the different gear?"
Enough room for 6 pole holders easy along with straps and eyes for tying stuff down.
"What about a bait tank area, or a crate area?"
Back area has an optional Cover that you can see in some of the photos but is designed for a live bait well to fit or crate or bucket.
"How is the access to the hatches?"
Easy access to all hatches. Easier actually than the Pro Explorer. Through the back Trap Door Hatch, poles can be stored and retreived easily by sitting side saddle.
"Was it too heavy?"
Not much more heavy than the Pro Explorer of the Tandem, even for the size.
"How did it handle the surf?"
Surf Trials have not happened yet as both Jack and Greg tested in the coves by the shop and were on a Prototype. See Greg T's post below to answer stability questions. He stood up in the boat IN THE WATER and jumped around on it. I guess that means answering the call of nature through a scupper hole is a thing of the past.
"Did it have the rudder?"
Yes, but the rudder assembly is optional. Remember that Tracking and Turning are opposite things. If a boat TRACKS excellently, it turns like a bus, conversely, if a boat turns easily, it does not track well at all.
The eXtreme Tracks Well, and Turns OK, but this is a long boat and will not turn on a dime. The rudder accessory will help with this if needed, but all of that is a PERSONAL taste. :-)
"The usual info, you know. "
More will follow as we try them more and more. Production models begin Wednesday and I'll post more info as I have it. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any specific questions I can try and help you with.
Ric
