Went to Berkeley Sat. for the Derby I was a judging and a young man from So-Cal drove home with the pot for the biggest fish and half the pot for the most fish caught. Only one more fish was caught that night for the other half of the pot, and 50 some people showed; but the rest of the people were catching halibut and stripers as the target fish(batray) was sparce. Lost a halibut, it gave me the white hand and rolled off my rig and back into the abyss. Shunk for me.
Went out today for a little kayaking at the Res. near my home, and had some squid left over from the Derby and trolled it for about 3 hours for naught; parked on a small island, anchored with my paddle in some grass and cast out into the channel and waited for closing time or a fish; long story short, my rod goes berzerk and I realize I have a fish, so I turn to get my rod and this Catfish is pulling like crazy, so I reel this fish in and net him like I know what I'am doing but this fish is the biggest I have caught in this Res. so the shunk has lifted; it was 6 3/4 lbs. Had a Good Day Today. TL
