I guess I assume that posts here and on yakfishing.com are from local So Cal. (and particularly San Diego County)guys.
I apologize for my error.
If you're fishing that part of the country, what are the most important criteria for you:
-staying dry in the colder part of the year?
-a boat that's easier to handle in wind?
-stability or speed?
are you primarily in Fresh or Salt Water?
I prefer a dry, stable platform because I'm fishing from it. I don't want my butt wet, I don't want to worry about accidental rolls, and I am a pretty big guy (6-4, 225).... hence the Fish N Dive.
As far as speed, I think it's probably about 15% slower than the thinner boats like a OK Scupper, but its immensly drier and MORE stable. We troll here at low speed, so speed is only a factory going in or out. Comfort of ride is definately an advantage of the FND, also. And, I've known a lot of experienced kayak anglers that have rolled their OK's in the ocean... look at the round hull design of the OK. A rounded hull like that is not a stable platform design
