I thought I was the only one with the yard stick on my boat. I added on my yard stick about a year a half ago. I got tired of the of the permanent marker markings.
I've learned is when using those lines you have running along the sides of your cockpit it's a good idea to run the linese through PVC or some type of protective sheilding so you won't get your hook stuck in them when you moving around. If you use PVC they make for good handles.
Also if you plan on adding any Scottie Rod holders instead of using the standard 4 bolts that they rod holders come with try using two stainless steel U-boats. They make for for a greate place to snap on your rod tethers. I mounted one in my center of my consul and I clip my paddle clip and bowline to it. I use my bowline for my drift shoot too. That's a great way to go with that.
I carry a couple small tupperware containers for my takle. They are water proof and as long as you keep them closed they will float and your stuff with stay dry in the event of gear overboard. I found out that they float By accident and that was a lucky accident to have happen. Just make sure you don't over load the container.
Another thing I do is I will ussually either add oil, or spray WD-40 on to a paper towel, then fold it and put it on the bottom of my tackleware. So my hooks and lead heads stay lubricated and rust free. Also when I change out leadheads or lures my wet lures won't get rusty.
