I am still debating whether a 98 mile drive is worth it. Well even though the weather was not great, the company was outstanding. As always it was a pleasure to fish with Cucamonga Keith and Grego. It was great meeting Perry, Robert, Mark & Karen (Hook1), Paul, Cliff, Eagle Eye and Quietman.
I was on the water before 6:30 with Keith, we tried Doheny as shallow as 7 feet, but the wind was pushing us on to the beach too fast, even with my chute out and trolling bucket out.
I managed to keep my streak alive by catching the smallest fish on the largest bait. The sandy I caught was barely bigger than the chovie he ate. LOL!
We went back inside to join the floatilla of Kayaks drifting around the bait barge. While at the barge for fresh chovies I caught a what I thought was a 15 inch mercury magnet and ended up releasing a nice fat corbina. I didn't think they would be in the harbor eating chovies till I saw the one Robert kept.
My new Pro Explorer was baptised this morning on it's maiden voyage. Greg and I got in on the Quietman Karma and both stood up on our kayaks for Keith's camera. Today was another day where Malibu Kayaks were the dominant brand on the water.
Oh Yeah, Cliff's kayak is something out of an inspector gadget movie, complete with a through the hull internal bait tank, and a car battery in the hull, to run a trolling motor. Nice Job.
