Wow it was really cool to see so many yak fisherman out on the water sunday. I was out early (5:30 AM) to hit the headlands. On the way out, I realized how slow my pro explorer was with full bait tank when John in his red Scupper pro blew by on the way to the point. Unfortunatly, the wind and waves made for some really tough fishing. I tried to hit the boiler rocks for the first time only to lose two fish to break offs. I did manage one small sand bass. As the wind picked up, I decided that I had enough and went in to hit the barge with the plastic armada. Turned to be a good move for me. Since I fish only 98% of the time, it was really nice to fish with so many yakkers. It is true that yak fishermen are some of the frendliest folks around.

Here's my final tally. I was the guy in the white pro explore with the blue jacket.

All in all, here is what I caught.

Outside in the rocks off the point
1 barred sand bass and two break offs in the rocks. (plastic)

Inside the harbor.
3 - 20 to 22" halibut (chovy)
1 - shovel nose shark (chovy)
1 - Corbina - Thought it was a yellowfin crocker and tossed it back. Apparently I wasn't the only one.(Plastic)
1 - Short white sea bass to 12" (plastic)
1 - Short Barracuda (plastic)
And one big one that got away. I think it was a big halibut that bit me off. It had some serious pull and it was fun while it lasted. Especially with the private boater right there cheering me on. Next time.

I wish I could have stayed for the BBQ, but I had my son's end of the season baseball party to attend.
