To all:
I went out of town on business on Monday and returned last night. During my absence, fishingkayaks.net was attacked and redirected. There appears to have been no logical objective for the attack so the motive remains unclear. The site has been reset and the redirect removed. New security measures are now in place and several others are being implemented.
NOTE: This site does not sell anything and there is absolutely no financial data of any kind collected or stored. The user registration database(also containing no financial data) for the FREE classifieds is stored on a seperate secure server.
I provide this site as a free service to the kayak fishing community and am pretty disillusioned with the situation right now. I don't know why a hacker would target a non-commercial kayak fishing site, but with the help of the hosting company, we're working on trying to track the source now. I really hope this was just a random act and there was no "turf wars" agenda behind attacking this site specifically; I don't need the hassle. This morning I'm feeling like I could use the extra time to get out and fish more often.
