: I am an old guy who fishes the calm waters of the east coast...no thresher sharks! I fish an FnD, but the tight heel holes and slow paddling speed gets tiring after a few hours. After scouring the Malibu web pages looking at the eXtreme I took a chance and ordered one. Anyone out there own or tried the eXtreme? Did I make the right move? Cliff Blair, Brockton Mass
Hey Cliff ,I'm originally from Middleboro and grew up fishing the waters of the Cape. I think the Extreme will fulfill your expectations. I test drove the Extreme at the Sunset Beach store about three weeks ago. The reason I bought a fish n dive instead of an Extreme had nothing to do with any dissatisfaction with the Extreme. It's a great fast boat. I too am an older paddler. The waves we have in California are very different from the surf(in general) in Massachusetts. I was concerned about possibilities of the Extreme pearling on the return to the beach because of the length. I still think it's a good boat and fast.If I had bought an Extreme I was gonna get it without the front hatch because I was a little concerned about waves over the bow in a surf launch. Maybe I'm a paranoid schizophrenic. I launchefd my F n D into the surf at Malibu last week and immediatel took a wave completely over the boat(and me!) bow to stern. When I came in I had about a teacup of water inside the yak! Mainly, being an older guy ,I found the comfiness and super stabilty of the F nD to be key factors. You already have the Fn D so on days when speed is important, you'll use the Extreme, and when you need super stability, use the F n D. Please let me know at my email your impressions after you've tried them both side by side1 I also have a Pro2 Tandem from the makers of the Extreme, and it's been a great boat.Good luck!
