My daughter and I went to Sunset Beach today. I wanted to test out the new eXtreme. I met Sean and we talked for a while about the eXtreme. He is a cool guy. I got a eXtreme to try and my daughter got a Pro Explorer. The eXtreme is comfortable in the cockpit and is very stable. It
has adjustable foot rests. I couldn't get comfortable with the foot rests so I took them off and was comfortable. The boat has alot of glide. Way more than my Pro Explorer. You would expect it from a 15' boat. It sits low in the water, so it seems to be less effected by a cross wind than my Pro Explorer. The boat paddled nice. The one I tested didn't have a rudder so it didn't turn very quickly. You have to expect that with a 15ft boat. If I were to get one I still wouldn't get a rudder. I like simple things and the rudder would just make things more complicated. I paddled around Hunnington Harbor with my daughter. We had a great time. I didn't get a chance to try it in the surf or in the open ocean, but from what I could tell it is a very nice kayak. If you wanted to travel longer distances to reach your fishing spots then you might want to give this boat a look. It is super stable and well built. For me storage and transport are factors. Storing and transporting my Pro Explorer is no problem. The eXtreme would require a lumber rack or somthing similar. My space that I have to store my kayak is limited and I don't think I could fit the eXtreme in my area. I think if you try one you will like it. After we got off the water we ran into Perry C. and his family. It is always great to talk with you Perry. Lets try Tidelands some Sunday soon.
