Janette and I got to the Sailing Center around 8AM Met up with Drew,Karen,JP & Wilson This was to be the day I would try to learn how to fish a Spinner Bait. We all paddled north towards the big hole by the sailing center. After about an hour Janette had two legal Spotties on the Frenzy Drew had two, one of them I think he said was 15" on a spinner. Me I kept throwing that spinner for nada! I could here that Frenzy calling me "Fish with me. I'd never let you down like that stupid Spinner." I forced myself to ignore the temptation and continued to fish that Spinner. After an hour and a half Drew & JP went south to the yacht club docks and Janette paddled in. So there I was left all alone to learn the ways of the Spinner. I went over to a spot where I had some success before by the 5 mile an hour buoys. Cast out and let it sink to the bottom. As soon as I started my retrieve I got hit hard just like drew said. The fish made a couple of quick runs and I could tell the fish was heavy. I began to think it was a big butt because it wasn't really fighting like a Spottie. Then when I saw color I could'nt believe the size of it. It was the biggest spottie I had ever seen!! When I got to shore I yelled to Janette to come down to the water. When she got there I said, as I pulled it out of the water. "Have you ever seen a Spottie this big!". I had my scale in the truck. The fish went 23 1/2" and weighed 4.96#.
