I have a question for all of my Fish N Dive brethren. I would like to tap into your experiences with installing a fish finder on my aircraft carrier CVN 2003 (Fish N Dive). Particularly where is the best place to install the transducer. Now I have installed a fish finder in my Tourer and it works great so I know how to do the installation.. Recently I bought a transducer combo kit designed to mount a trolling motor. It has a transducer, power cable and mount. My plan is to be able to swap my fish finder head/screen between kayaks. So my question is, based on your experiences where would you install a transducer inside the hull. Would you mount it forward of the hatch? Would you install it along the center line near the seat or maybe near the scupper pillars off to one side or the other. Is there any place that seems to be out of the way? Something where stowing rods below will not interfere with the transducer.
A follow on question is where is your preference to mount the fish finder head/screen? Between your legs aft of the main hatch? Forward of the hatch? On a crate or maybe on a bar or rack system like a rynobar? I am hesitant to clutter up the wide open flat area by mounting the screen right in the middle of my aircraft carrier’s flight deck. Who knows maybe I will get lucky enough one day to land a big White Sea Bass or Thresher and will need a green flight deck to land that beast.
Thanks for the help and I hope to see you on the water soon.
