I've actually used one for a few months and found it fairly effective and convenient. I just tie the sensor to 3-4 ft. of heavy mono and throw it over the side when I'm on a stop. It's fine for getting depth and bottow structure and the watch version helps keep clutter on your deck to a minimum. But is has it's obvious limitations. It's not effective for trolling and you often get strange it's readings when you're over heavy kelp or brush.
: Has anyone tried the new Humminbird SmartCast RF30 Fish Finder? I am in the market for a fishfinder and thought this may be a more compact way to go the display is wrist mounted and they sell it at REI.com. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks,Jeff
