I tested the Malibu Extreme yesterday as well as the Pro Explorer. I like the size and stablity of the Exreme but I did not care too much for the side rails which are there for the optional rudder. I prefer the Explorer's foot wells which are moulded into the yak.
To me the sitting position seemed more comfortable in the Explorer,I tried two explorers and they both seemed like a better sitting position, this may be just a simple matter of seat adjustment I don't know?
Both kayaks seemed to paddle with the same amount of effort , the Extreme is a bigger kayak however.
I don't own a kayak right now,I went to Sunset beach yesterday to try a couple , I have already paddled a Scupper Pro which I think was a wet ride . I did like both the Extreme and the Explorer, but the foot well on the Extreme bothers me, I much prefer the footwell on the Explorer without the rudder rails.
I may try a Scupper pro one more time before making a decision. Any comments are welcome.
