Spent the weekend camped out along some of the most beautiful stretch of coastline that Califonia has to offer. Both days were awesome, needless to say. Fished Pacific Valley one day and Jade Cove the next. The weather was so good that we were able to paddle down from Pacific Valley into Sand Dollar beach to fish for halibut (one good sized butt lost at the gaff).
Went out deep into 100ft or so to fish for reds and lings and it was wide open. I ended up catching a rare and endangered Canary rockfish of about 7-9 lbs, which I released. Those fish are beautiful. Orange with yellow zig zag stripes over the eyes. We did real good on the reds both days, with fish of the trip being around 7 or 8 lbs. Caught a few lings, more than enough rockfish, and a couple of good sized cabs.
The weather should be fishable on and off for the next two months or so.
Keep on fishin
Brendan
