I guess this turned out to be a false report. Oh well. It was nice to think that the next time I hear my reel sing or the next boil I see....could it be?
On another note, I have caught yellowfin with in 5 to 10 miles of Dana Point. Always a patty on the way back from the outer banks. So it is conceivable that someone could paddle out to a paddy a few miles offshore and nab tuna out of a kayak. However, it is extremely unlikely since most modern tuna fishing is a run and gun approach in which you cover a lot of ground trying to locate fish and a kayak is not the ideal way of doing this.
Just out of curiousity, what is the farthest anyone has paddled out to catch a fish?
