: I launched at 4:30 and headed to the pier with Tom & Mark followed closely by Jeff and a friend. No bait at the pier so I paddled over to the point.I made bait at first light and slow trolled macs until noon. There were several nice YT caught today but none my me.The day started out dark and cloudy but then opened up and became all clear with a little wind. On the bright side, I got a chance to field test a new 360 degree all position rod holder from Cabela’s and I LOVED IT!On a dark note, I was fishing in the kelp where boats don’t go for obvious reasons when a passing sport boat named the Dolphin suddenly changed course, turned and charged me, turning again only at the last second and only enough to just barely keep from hitting me direct. The wake all but flipped me and did flip another kayaker who was also present. This was completely an unprovoked attack as we were not fishing anywhere near their cum line. I’ve never had a problem with any of the other San Diego sport boats but have had many with this one. This isn’t an isolated experience and it’s only a matter of time before someone is killed. If you live in SD or are coming here on vacation and are planning a fishing trip on one of our many fine sport boats I urge you not to fish on the Dolphin or on any landing that has a sport boat named the Dolphin. Because no one was killed the law can only do so much but if enough people boycott the Dolphin and the landing where the boat sails out of than eventually the Dolphin will go away and our local waters will be safe once again.I’m heading out again tomorrow, same time and same place.John
