JAS-I paddled all the way to the point and the bouy, but saw no bait, birds, etc. Coming back through a large kelpy area I found myself in a big half-circle of open water and the current going better, clarity better also. I cast a big rubber tail and got a legal sandbass first cast. I was quickly yanking the small bass out when a halibut about 3 feet/20ish followed
and lunged at it. It was too quick to freegaff or to put the bass back down so I unhooked and worked the area he should have settled at while I settled my nerves. In a space of 15 minutes, 7 strikes gave me three sandies with a calico following one up. That was the end of the action . I worked an hour more with nothing to show but 3 bass and a sunburn. Do halibut eat sandbass? Nice website! See you out there sometime. Randy
