I used to fish Huntington Harbor there are some BIG sand and leopard sharks near the bridge there will be lots of boats out there on the weekend (both kayaks and small motorcraft) just be careful about where you are in proximity to the bridge and the wetland ropes in the past few months the patrol boats have been very wary of any craft in that area not moving through to the open water (which is kind of not cool since kayaks are not allowed into the open water through Huntington Harbor)the last time I was down there I had a patrol boat with three guys holding their M-16s in their hands approach me to ask what I was doing there. Since then I go down to Newport harbor there are more fish and you can go out into the open water with no troubles.
